On Saturday 10th September ‘Team Infinity’ took part in the Dragon Boat Race at Bewl Water to raise money for the children’s charity we continually support called Tree of Hope.
This year, our team arrived early on the Saturday to check out the competition and talk tactics. We were up against experienced teams that train all year round and take the event very seriously – so the competition this year was really tough!
Unfortunately even though we tried our best dressed as pirates we lost our first two races. Fortunately though we won our third by quite a stretch, which is pretty good going seeing as some of our team had not ever rowed before! After the races were over the atmosphere was great and certainly made all the hard work and effort we had put in worth it.
Our journey home was rather wet and chilly but we all had a fantastic day and raised nearly £2,000 for Tree of Hope that will go towards helping seriously ill and disabled children.
Here’s a little bit more about Tree of Hope
Tree of Hope provide support and advice to families of seriously ill and disabled children. They fundraise to help raise money for medical surgery, treatment and therapies that would otherwise not be available to these children on the NHS.
They also support surgery and treatment by medical specialists abroad, where the specific knowledge and facilities are available in order to treat the children as quickly as possible.
